A Tale of Two Sheds

After watching a clip of a girl living in Ethiopia and seeing her day to day life struggles for an education and a home we had these 2 questions to answer.

What problems are evident?
The problems evident in this short film is the lack of running water, homes and the basic nessesities for living. The lack of education was also very evident in the film with the students fighting to have an edcation that they deserve. There is huge poverty in Ethiopia which is seen in the clip.

How can these problems be solved?
Some solutions to these problems:
- creating a safe environment for children both at school and at home
- making sure that children have at least a primary education
- more facilities to be available for students
- helping those homeless or without a home
- rise in the living standards that the people are living in
- spreading the word for people to donate and help

Homeless stories:
What is my response to the stories?
I was quite horrified that so much bad stuff could happen to one person. You would think just for the girl Elle that her father abusing her and leaving then a new man abusing her would be bad enough but then someone takes advantage of her and gets her hooked on drugs and then threatens her life. When reading this i felt lots of empathy for those of whom these things have happen to, and realisation that this is bigger than i thought and it really does happen everyday to someone new.
How can we help the homeless?
- listen to people
- setting up a safe environment for homeless people to come and ask for help without fear
- recognising those who are in life threatening situations and helping them
- more efforts in stopping drug dealers

In class we read a long document with some stories with clear messages and the writters perspective in. We had to write down the meaning of the passage and then our reflection on it.

We then had to go out side and find something in nature that represent where we stand in our relationship with God. i got a small bundle of buds that is yet to blossom. this represents my relationship with Gos hasnt blosssomed yet but it is there and the belief is their but wether it will or will not blossom is still unknown. it also represents my age and how i am at the age to decide if and how i want my relationship with God to be.

Glee episode

What spiritual perspectives are in evidence?
There are a few spiritual perspectives int his episode of glee. There is the Christian perspective of Quinn and Mercedes who believe in god. Quinn believe god helped her through her pregnancy and Mercedes tries to show Kurt what religion is all about by taking him to her church, she believes that you must have something to believe in thta is bigger than something you cant see, smell or touch. There is the Jewish perspective of Puck and Rachel. There is the atheist perspective of Kurt who believes there is no god and struggles to understand why people keep praying for his dad. There is also Fin who thought God was on his grilled sandwich and asks for 3 wishes that come true but hurting people in the wake. He then starts to question God. Sue also doesnt believe in God as she prayed for her sister to get better and she never did.

The Riddle of Suffering

Isabel Allende - Author
When her daughter died she lost her fear of death and when her granddaughter was born she lost the fear of life. She has worked through her grief and suffering.

Do you think God cares about our suffering ?
I am unsure wether their is a God. But if their is i think that he would care about our suffering otherwise if he didn't everyone would suffer continuously because he wouldnt care. It is said he sent down his son to die on the cross to ease our suffering in the future, so he must care about our suffering enough to ease it.

Do you agree that if there is no God, "everything that happens good or bad- must be thought as the result of the random, wastage of evolution?
no. i believe that everything happens for a reason and works out for a reason. If their is no God i don't believe that things happen due to the result of evolution. I believe that things happen for a reason and what goes around comes around. I believe that how ou treat people and act is the way you ill be treated back, good or bad. Every action has a reacction.

Much suffering in the world is a result of human activity - I can agree to this statement. I believe that the pain and suffering in the world is inflicted on us by one another because the world and humans are not perfect.

This world is far form perfect and this imperfection is related to the disharmony that has always existed between human beings and God. - I agree the world is not perfect but i disagree that the imperfection exist due to the relationship between human beings and God. The imperfections in the world do not come down to the relationship between God and humans instead multiple reasons of why the world is and always be imperfect, becaus enothing is perfect.
